Alkaline metals naturally represent a disposal problem that should not be underestimated if they have been stored for a longer period of time. When stored non-professionally, corrosion of metals cannot be avoided. The corrosion products (oxides, hydroxides, peroxides) are not harmless; physical contact must be avoided under all circumstances.
There is another problem with NaK waste: the eutectic mixture of sodium and potassium is liquid at room temperature and is significantly more reactive than sodium when it comes into contact with air and moisture.
In the interests of users of alkali metals, we also use our many years of experience in handling alkali metals to dispose of these hazardous substances.
