About the history of the company:
The Dr. Bilger Umweltconsulting GmbH was founded in 1995 on the basis of a healthy sole proprietorship run by the managing director. Our customers include large companies with more than 10,000 employees as well as medium-sized and small companies with a few employees.
These primarily include automotive suppliers, aluminum foundries and Teflon etchers.

Sodium, a substance that can be used in many different ways, determines our daily work.
Essentially, we are concerned with sodium and its diverse uses.
- In the automotive industry (filling engine valves)
- When refining the aluminum melt (in sand and chill casting)
- When etching Teflon (PTFE)
- In pharmaceutical production
- In metallurgy (i.e. recycling of lead batteries, removal of antimony)
- for destruction of PCB in transformer oil
- Drying of heat transfer oil

Thanks to its valuable physical and chemical properties, we offer our customers added value through our sodium and thus contribute a part in the manufacturing process to the end product.
The safe handling of sodium and other alkali metals, including the disposal of the alkali metals, is of crucial importance to us.
Individual disposal concepts were successfully implemented, for example, during the dissolution of the Interatom technical center in Bergisch-Gladbach and other companies from the industrial and research sectors.
Over the past 30 years, new processes have been developed to eliminate a wide variety of pollutants in oil (PCBs, POPs, chlorine, sulfur, metals, etc.), all of which make use of the exceptional reducing properties of this alkali metal.
The Dr. Bilger Umweltconsulting GmbH has been working on the dehalogenation of oils for a long time.
The transferability to the desulfurization of oil (initially raw naphtha) was confirmed on a laboratory and pilot plant scale.
In cooperation with subcontractors, we provide systems for the use of sodium in the area of PCB destruction in transformers and for the production of sodium dispersion.
